Founded in 1870 at Akron, Ohio by Dr. Benjamin Franklin Goodrich, the B.F. Goodrich Company was first known as Goodrich, Tew & Co. It was later on during 1880 when the company's name was actually changed into B.F. Goodrich Company. By the 1980's this name was simplified into just BF Goodrich.
